Monday's running of the 24th Los Angeles Marathon will bring tens of thousands of athletes Downtown for the race and accompanying events...This year's race will be returning to the circuit course used through 2006, so participants will be both starting and finishing Downtown.

Live in the neighborhood? Wander over to the route and take a look.

Weather for the event is shaping up perfectly, with the forecast showing mostly sunny skies and a high of 75 degrees.

Those who don't get the day off or who have other plans should take note of traffic closures related to the event...Closures for the staging area on Flower between 3rd and 5th will begin on Sunday evening...Wider closures will start at 7am on Monday morning, and will affect the Financial District and Figueroa through South Park...More information can be found on LADOT's traffic info site.

For those interested in watching the race, consider making the effort to catch the wheelchair racers as they fly along the marathon course...They finish up to an hour before the runners.
