PERFORMANCE
The Rachel Rosenthal Company's TOHUBOHU! Extreme Theater Ensemble collaborates with special guest artist George Herms. You never know what will happen with this theater ensemble--and neither do they. TOHUBOHU is about total free improvisation. The opening performance begins at 8:30 pm tonight. Additional performances on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets: $20.

NEW MEDIA/FILM
The first-ever New Media Film Festival starts today and runs through Sunday in Downtown LA. The festival showcases films produced in both nontraditional (3D, RED, mobile, web) and traditional media. DRINK
R Bar in K-town is holding a benefit for the Wildlife Foundation tonight starting at 7 pm. Bring cash and drink up because 10% of the proceeds for tomorrow night go to the WWF--and lord knows they'll need it for Gulf Coast recovery from the BP fiasco...On another note: Bigfoot Lodge is holding its 11th Year Anniversary Party tonight. $5 Jameson all night long. Resident DJ Mike spins all of Bigfoot's favorite tunes of the past decade starting at 10 pm.

BOOKS

Kicking In is a short story collection from LA-based author Richard Wirick. It’s a “compilation of dark, edgy tales from the barricades, boldly chronicling the outer limits of drug culture.” He reads from the book tonight at 7 pm at Book Soup.

Upcoming
