BENEFIT
The standout Figueroa Corridor nonprofit Esperanza Community Housing Corporation celebrates its 20th Anniversary Celebration tonight by honoring four advocates of health, housing and human rights in South Los Angeles. Esperanza’s benefit "Dancing under the Stars" will be held at the Mercado la Paloma tonight at 7 pm and honors Congressman Xavier Becerra, Community Activist and Esperanza’s Board Chairman Pastor Brian Eklund, founder of Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE) Gilda Haas and Esperanza’s Founder Sister Diane Donoghue. Tickets are $100 each.

WTF
Actor Tim Robbins is artistic director of the Actor’s Gang in Culver City and has helped design the WTF?! Festival, composed of a singer/songwriter series, film talkback series, and a theater and dance series, each curated by Robbins and featuring members and friends of The Actors' Gang. Proceeds benefit outreach programs, such as theater residencies in public schools; a free outdoor family theater series; and a theater in prisons program focused on rehabilitation through the arts. Tonight at 8 pm is the one-woman show The Need to Know, written and performed by former Air Force Intelligence Analyst, April Fitzsimmons, who turned from warrior to peace activist. A Veteran's Forum to follow show. Tickets are $15, but free to members of the military with ID.
